A pair of early production “Pala” vases designed by Helena Tynell (1918-2016) for the Finnish glassworks company Riihimäki. Tynell’s forms, organic yet elegant, experiment with the expressive and optical qualities of glass. This design is thought to have been inspired by a chunk of ice (“pala” translates to piece or chunk).
